After the positive comeback right before the beginning of August, 2019, pangasius price has leveled off or even slightly dropped again at some factories since the middle of last week. This has been confirmed by at least two sales representatives at two pangasius factories located in Tien Giang Province and Dong Thap Province respectively.
 

There are two reasons that are believed to have halted the price raise of pangasius, which had been expected to up even better after the increase at the beginning of August.
 

The first reason is from the pressure to close orders right before and during the Vietnam Fisheries International Exhibition (VIETFISH) 2019, which is taking place from August 29 to 31, 2019 at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) located at 799 Nguyen Van Linh, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. Therefore, some factories and exporters have decreased their offered prices to close as many deals as possible with buyers before that time.

The other reason is though the year-end time is drawing near, the demand for pangasius import from markets around the world has not grown as heavy as expected. Bulk orders have not been placed yet. Thus, to encourage the market demand, producers and exporters have to give out reasonable pricing. 

The current pricing for pangasius products (fillets, steaks, cubes or HGT) is roughly 2 to 5 cents per kilogram lower than the prices offered during the first week of August, 2019.
